About Us

The Crypt opened on October 24, 2024. This is an inclusive, welcoming space for tabletop gamers in southern New England. Our motto “NO CHUDS. NO BASTARDS.” is the backbone of our operating procedure. You might be asking, “what’s a chud?”. The term itself came from the 1984 horror movie “ Cannibalistic Humanoid Underground Dwellers”. A chud (colloquially) is an intolerant person who is unpleasant to be around. These are people who aren’t welcome in the space, particularly because we are focused on being a safe space for people of color, femmes, and queer people. (Also, no bastards is referring to terrible people of the same nature and not a bastard in the historical sense.)

We are a casual store. Even when we run tournaments, we hold ourselves to a high standard of understanding and good conduct. We’re playing games. It’s not that serious.

We also pride ourselves in carrying a wide variety of games that touch on all aspects of tabletop gaming. Not everything is for everyone, but everyone has a thing. Ask us for a recommendation!

Finding hard-to-acquire games is a large part of our operating procedure, and we would love to help you find them. In addition to this, we stock games and products from publishers and creators that you can’t find anywhere else in Rhode Island.
